Mission & Community

At Randolph Heights, we want to put our faith into action and participate in God’s mission of hope and healing in our neighborhood and around the world.

La Roca in Tijuana, Mexico – Randolph Heights has an ongoing mission partnership with La Roca. Over the past decade, three different teams of youth and adults from Randolph Heights have gone to Tijuana to serve and be served by the people there.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner – On Thanksgiving Day every year, the Deacons of Randolph Heights put on free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone in the neighborhood or community.

Feed My Starving Children – Several times a year, groups from our congregation go lend a hand at Feed My Starving Children, a Twin Cities-based organization that packs food for hungry children and families in places like Cambodia, Haiti, and Sudan.

Operation Christmas Child – In partnership with Samaritan’s Purse (an international Christian development organization), the folks of Randolph Heights fill shoeboxes with Christmas gifts for children around the world.

Food Shelf – Donations of non-perishable food items are always welcome at our deacon-run food shelf in the church narthex. Special drives happen during November & March each year.

The “Mitten Tree” – During late November & December each year, a Christmas tree is put up in the narthex and folks are invited to donate scarves, hats and mittens to make it a warmer Minnesota winter for the folks at the Union Gospel Mission’s Naomi Family Residence.

One Great Hour of Sharing – It’s an offering of our denomination, the Presbyterian Church (USA) that benefits the work of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program, and the Self-Development of People Program. This opportunity to give is offered on Palm Sunday each Spring.

At Randolph Heights, we also want to be good neighbors and be involved in the life of our community. Our building at the corner of Hamline & Palace is the center of many other great community activities.

Mis Amigos Spanish-Immersion Preschool – Starting with a few weeks of summer camps in August, and then offering a Monday-through-Friday preschool beginning in September, Mis Amigos Spanish-Immersion Preschool is our latest community partner. Mis Amigos has been providing Spanish-immersion preschool in Hopkins for the last decade, and we’re happy to be able to provide a home for their expansion to the East Metro area.

Shakespearean Youth Theater – During the Winter months, this group of home-schooled high-schoolers rehearse and put on a fabulous Shakespearean production in the downstairs fellowship hall for the community. 2010 will be their fourth season here at RHPC. The production usually is over a weekend in late February or early March.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota – There are two Epilepsy Foundation donation boxes in our parking lot on the corner of Hamline & James. These big green boxes are a place where neighbors and friends can drop off clothing donations that benefit the work of the Epilepsy Foundation.
